Our Farm Grown Shetland Yarn is Now Available

Our Sheep

Our Fine Wool Philosophy

On our farm our flock is bred with the fiber artist in mind. While Shetlands are known for their hardiness, intelligence, and remarkable range of natural colors, we choose our breeding stock carefully and put a special emphasis on producing exceptionally fine, soft fleeces without sacrificing sound, happy sheep.

The goal of our farm is to produce sheep that are eye catching in our pastures with gorgeous fleeces for your hands.

Why Shetland Sheep?

Originating on Scotland's rugged Shetland Islands, these remarkable sheep developed over centuries into one of the world's most versatile heritage breeds. Their natural colors, efficient grazing ability, longevity, and adaptable nature have made them favorites among shepherds, handspinners, knitters, and weavers alike.

Their fleece is renowned for its softness, elasticity, and versatility, making it ideal for garments worn next to the skin as well as heirloom textiles.

Our Breeding Philosophy

We believe great wool begins with great sheep.

In our breeding program we strive for:

  • Soft, fine, next to skin fleeces
  • Structural correctness
  • Healthy, productive, and happy ewes
  • Calm, friendly, and manageable temperaments
  • Beautiful natural colors
  • Sheep that thrive on pasture

We do not breed solely for fleece quantity, instead we focus on fleece quality—producing wool that fiber artists look forward to working with year after year.

Fine Wool: The Ultimate Goal

One of the most important goals of our flock is to produce finer-than-average Shetland wool.

All of our sheep are micron tested to provide measurements of fleece fineness. While softness is something you can feel, micron testing drives our breeding decisions and helps us improve our flock over time. We are active members of the Fine Fleece Shetland Sheep Association where every one of our breeding stock meets the requirements of the organization.

Small Batch and Farm Grown

All of our fleeces are shorn on the farm, skirted by our family, and shipped to a mill for professional processing into yarn, roving, and specialty items.

Each skein reflects the natural colors and unique character of our sheep. From classic grays to rich moorits and deep blacks, our yarn celebrates the beauty that nature has already created. Our yarns never touch a dyepot.

Because our yarn begins with sheep we've bred and raised ourselves, every skein tells the story of our flock. On each of our labels you will note the names of our sheep that grew that specific skein for you.

Breeding Stock

Each year we will have a select number of breeding stock available for purchase. For more information please send us an email through our contact page to be added to our list.

A Hybrid Breed

In addition to our Shetlands, we were surprised by our 2026 lamb crop and their daddy! Our girls were unintentionally, but interestingly bred by an Ozarks Merino Ram. He is a mix of Rambouillet & Cormo with the most amazing fine wool. Out of that year's lambing we kept back 4 lambs, 2 ewes and 2 wethers as a little side project. The ewe lambs will be bred back to a shetland ram and we will be playing around with fleece quality. The wethers...well, they are just gorgeously fleeced field ornaments. We are excited to share their yarn with you!
